Frequently Asked Dental Implant Questions

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are strong, stable, durable, tooth replacements that look and feel real and are virtually undetectable by others. By placing an artificial root in the area where there is a missing tooth, dental implants will restore normal function to your teeth and better dental health, allowing you to eat, smile, talk and chew with pleasure once again.

Are there different dental implant types to choose from?
At Exceptional Dentistry we provide both endosteal and subperiosteal implants approved by the ADA. The determining factor is whether your jawbone can support the dental implant. Most procedures involve endosteal, which is similar to the root of a natural tooth. The procedure that is right for you will be determined after your overall evaluation.

Why are dental implants superior to dentures or bridges?
Dentures and bridges notoriously have issues with fit and wearers experience slippage. Dental implants are individual teeth anchored into the jaw bone, so none of these problems can occur.

What can I expect during the dental implant process?
Before beginning any procedure, Dr. Paul Mathew will perform a thorough and free cosmetic evaluation to evaluate your overall dental health and the recommended course of treatment to replace your missing teeth.

The first procedure involves implanting the artificial roots into the jawbone, so they will anchor your implants, providing them with the strength and functionality of natural teeth.

After the posts have a chance to heal and bond with the jawbone, your custom-made teeth will be fitted to the posts. Because they are specially made for you, the implants will match the color, texture, and look of your real teeth.

How do I choose an implant cosmetic dentist?
Choosing the right cosmetic dentist is an important decision. Look for training, education and experience in the procedure you have chosen. Dr. Mathew specializes in cosmetic dentistry and has extensive training through the prestigious LVI, where advanced technology is stressed and the most up-to-date procedures are taught.

Are dental implants affordable?
The quality of your care and the materials used to restore your beautiful smile are a top priority at Exceptional Dentistry.  With today’s advances in cosmetic dentistry, we strive to keep your costs affordable.  If you are quoted a price, and the dental procedures go beyond that limit, the additional procedures are completed at our expense.

To make sure you get the satisfaction and service you paid for, all cosmetic dentistry procedures are guaranteed for 5 years, as long as regularly scheduled dental appointments are kept every six months. If cost is a challenge, we offer several affordable financing options so you can have the smile you really deserve.
